​Owhiro Bay Houses
​The Red Rocks walk on Wellington’s South Coast starts at a disused quarry where you leave your vehicle. To get there you skirt Ohiro Bay on its western side past a string of houses, some which have been here for over 50 years. The intrepid individuals who built them are fulfilling a dream to live on the edge of Cook Strait despite the vagaries of the weather . There is no standard architectural solution with the exception, they all face the sea. Over the years many styles have been adopted.

​The Stones of Lancaster
The urban landscape of Georgian Lancaster has retained a consistency of style. because the town had a period of decline when there was little building activity. The older buildings were in general constructed with local sandstone and it is these older buildings which dominate the skyline and the city centre. The images in this book are of these buildings and others on the heritage list.

W(h)anganui Buildings
Wanganui has a wonderful set of late nineteenth and early twentieth century buildings including, with its War Memorial Hall, New Zealand's most outstanding example of 'modernist' architecture. In the central part of the town where these photographs were taken there is a unity of scale unsullied by high rise development.
